T-pro 2.0: An Efficient Russian Hybrid-Reasoning Model and Playground

We introduce T-pro 2.0, an open-weight Russian LLM for hybrid reasoning and efficient inference. The model supports direct answering and reasoning-trace generation, using a Cyrillic-dense tokenizer and an adapted EAGLE speculative-decoding pipeline to reduce latency. To enable reproducible and extensible research, we release the model weights, the T-Wix 500k instruction corpus, the T-Math reasoning benchmark, and the EAGLE weights on Hugging Face. These resources allow users to study Russian-language reasoning and to extend or adapt both the model and the inference pipeline. A public web demo exposes reasoning and non-reasoning modes and illustrates the speedups achieved by our inference stack across domains. T-pro 2.0 thus serves as an accessible open system for building and evaluating efficient, practical Russian LLM applications.

Kaleidoscope: In-language Exams for Massively Multilingual Vision Evaluation

The evaluation of vision-language models (VLMs) has mainly relied on English-language benchmarks, leaving significant gaps in both multilingual and multicultural coverage. While multilingual benchmarks have expanded, both in size and languages, many rely on translations of English datasets, failing to capture cultural nuances. In this work, we propose Kaleidoscope, as the most comprehensive exam benchmark to date for the multilingual evaluation of vision-language models. Kaleidoscope is a large-scale, in-language multimodal benchmark designed to evaluate VLMs across diverse languages and visual inputs. Kaleidoscope covers 18 languages and 14 different subjects, amounting to a total of 20,911 multiple-choice questions. Built through an open science collaboration with a diverse group of researchers worldwide, Kaleidoscope ensures linguistic and cultural authenticity. We evaluate top-performing multilingual vision-language models and find that they perform poorly on low-resource languages and in complex multimodal scenarios. Our results highlight the need for progress on culturally inclusive multimodal evaluation frameworks.

Towards Foundation Time Series Model: To Synthesize Or Not To Synthesize?

The industry is rich in cases when we are required to make forecasting for large amounts of time series at once. However, we might be in a situation where we can not afford to train a separate model for each of them. Such issue in time series modeling remains without due attention. The remedy for this setting is the establishment of a foundation model. Such a model is expected to work in zero-shot and few-shot regimes. However, what should we take as a training dataset for such kind of model? Witnessing the benefits from the enrichment of NLP datasets with artificially-generated data, we might want to adopt their experience for time series. In contrast to natural language, the process of generation of synthetic time series data is even more favorable because it provides full control of series patterns, time horizons, and number of samples. In this work, we consider the essential question if it is advantageous to train a foundation model on synthetic data or it is better to utilize only a limited number of real-life examples. Our experiments are conducted only for regular time series and speak in favor of leveraging solely the real time series. Moreover, the choice of the proper source dataset strongly influences the performance during inference. When provided access even to a limited quantity of short time series data, employing it within a supervised framework yields more favorable results than training on a larger volume of synthetic data. Sparse and Transferable Universal Singular Vectors Attack

The research in the field of adversarial attacks and models' vulnerability is one of the fundamental directions in modern machine learning. Recent studies reveal the vulnerability phenomenon, and understanding the mechanisms behind this is essential for improving neural network characteristics and interpretability. In this paper, we propose a novel sparse universal white-box adversarial attack. Our approach is based on truncated power iteration providing sparsity to $(p,q)$-singular vectors of the hidden layers of Jacobian matrices. Using the ImageNet benchmark validation subset, we analyze the proposed method in various settings, achieving results comparable to dense baselines with more than a 50% fooling rate while damaging only 5% of pixels and utilizing 256 samples for perturbation fitting. We also show that our algorithm admits higher attack magnitude without affecting the human ability to solve the task. Furthermore, we investigate that the constructed perturbations are highly transferable among different models without significantly decreasing the fooling rate. Our findings demonstrate the vulnerability of state-of-the-art models to sparse attacks and highlight the importance of developing robust machine learning systems.

Translate your gibberish: black-box adversarial attack on machine translation systems

Neural networks are deployed widely in natural language processing tasks on the industrial scale, and perhaps the most often they are used as compounds of automatic machine translation systems. In this work, we present a simple approach to fool state-of-the-art machine translation tools in the task of translation from Russian to English and vice versa. Using a novel black-box gradient-free tensor-based optimizer, we show that many online translation tools, such as Google, DeepL, and Yandex, may both produce wrong or offensive translations for nonsensical adversarial input queries and refuse to translate seemingly benign input phrases. This vulnerability may interfere with understanding a new language and simply worsen the user's experience while using machine translation systems, and, hence, additional improvements of these tools are required to establish better translation.
