Abstract:We propose a theoretical framework to compute, rapidly and accurately, the signal-to-noise ratio at the output of spatial-division multiplexing (SDM) linear MIMO equalizers with arbitrary numbers of spatial modes and filter taps and demonstrate three orders of magnitude of speed-up compared to Monte Carlo simulations.
Abstract:We report on theoretical and experimental investigations of the nonlinear tolerance of single carrier and digital multicarrier approaches with probabilistically shaped constellations. Experimental transmission of PCS16QAM is assessed at 120 GBd over an ultra-long-haul distance.
Abstract:An optimised subsea system design for energy-efficient SDM operation is demonstrated using machine learning. The removal of gain-flattening filters employed in submarine optical amplifiers can result in capacity gains at no additional overall repeater cost.
